Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3)
Gametime: 1:00pm Eastern Sunday
This matchup features another battle between rookie quarterbacks; this time with Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton and Jacksonville’s Blaine Gabbert. Both are having good seasons for rookie standards, but the Bengals’ defense may have more of an effect than most may think. Marvin Lewis’ club leads the league in total defense and has forced seven turnovers (6 fumbles, 1 interception) in four games.
For the Jaguars, Maurice Jones-Drew isn’t having an MVP season with only one touchdown in four games, but he’s still a consistent offensive threat. After all, he’s second in the league in rushing yards. We expect him to get a touchdown this week. Also, Mike Thomas is among the league leaders in targets. So expect him to see a lot of action. We see him hitting paydirt as well. The Bengals have a much improved defense and with Blaine Gabbert still learning the ropes, we see the multi-million dollar tight end to start earning his pay check and catch a sleeper touchdown.
Touchdowns – Maurice Jones-Drew, Mike Thomas, Marcedes Lewis
Despite a subpar showing against the Buffalo Bills, Cedric Benson still keeps the chains moving. His 348 yards in four games is good for sixth in the league. We expect him to score if the Bengals get in close. Rookie A.J. Green has also been impressive. He leads the Bengals in receiving yards and has become Dalton’s favorite target. We expect him to add to his touchdown totals this weekend. We also expect Jermaine Gresham to keep it going and score a touchdown. Last week Jimmy Graham put up 132 and a touchdown against the Jags. Gresham won’t put up the yards, but will put up a score.
Touchdowns – Cedric Benson, A.J. Green, Jermaine Gresham
