Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2)
Gametime: 1:00 PM Eastern Sunday
The Jaguars and their rookie quarterback, Blaine Gabbert, have a tough matchup heading into week 6. The surprising stat is not about the Jaguars offense but more about the Steelers defense. When you think of the Steel Curtain you think of a tough run defense and unpredictable, heavy blitzes. Right now the Steelers are giving up an average of 108.8 yards on the ground. Look for the Jags to continue to ride their work horse Maurice Jones-Drew in this game. The Jags have the 2nd worst passing offense in the NFL, averaging 155.8 yards per game. We project MJD will have a solid game, going for 85 yards and a touchdown. Gabbert will get 170 yards and a lone touchdown to Jason Hill.
The Steelers are no longer a run first – and often – offense. They now like to air it out with Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben has a bad left foot but that didn’t stop him from putting up big fantasy numbers last week. Because of muddled situation of the Steelers backfield, we can’t accurately project a touchdown from any back, even Rashard Mendenhall. Surprisingly the Jags have the 8th best overall defense. Roethlisberger will have a big day due to the healthy of the RB’s. Big Ben goes for 275 and 3 touchdowns. Two to Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown will get his first TD of the season.
