If you had to an award show for receivers, short to mid-size receivers will be taking home all the hardware. Was it the strict no-contact rule change that was implemented last offseason? Are NFL offenses getting more sophisticated on using shifty receivers in space. Was it simply a changing of the guard talent wise? We won’t know for sure, but check out these trends.

Antonio Browns is the most explosive receiver weapon in 2014. Brown broke out in a big in 2013 by catching 10 touchdowns to go with his 1,400 plus yards. In 2014 the numbers are on pace to be even better. Brown has 1,161 yards and 9 touchdowns. Brown is listed at 5’10, 190 pounds and is currently leading the lead in receiving yards.

The current NFL receiving touchdown leader for wide receivers is Green Bay’s Randall Cobb. Cobb is the same size as Brown, 5-10, 190 – and has 1 more touchdown. He is the current league leader in receiving touchdowns at the wide receiver position with 10.

Good fantasy value wide receiver picks this season: Steve Smith, DeAndre Hopkins, Jeremy Maclin, Golden Tate, and T.Y. Hilton. All players were drafted in the 5th round and lower. All of the aforementioned are in the top 20 in receiving yardage.
