- 3 Out of 5 Stars for your last roster spot. A WR5 lottery ticket.
There are sleeper receivers like TY Hilton and then there are micro sleepers like 49ers receiver Quinton Patton. He has busted on the preseason scene with touchdowns in the third and final preseason games. He has garnered high kudos from starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick and walks into a nice opportunity for playing time.
The 49ers are a team that wins with innovative game plans, a hard hitting defense, and an offense that makes timely plays. A high powered passing offense, they are not. But would coach Jim Harbaugh say no if the personnel to become one presented itself? Quinton Patton’s run after catch abilities could be the remedy for a team that’ll be missing Michael Crabtree for the entire 2013 season. Standing at six feet and possessing smoother than expected route running, he has been compared to Reggie Wayne. So what’s stopping you from picking up Patton? Well we hear about these guys every year and you can make an argument that every team has their Quinton Patton. But do they have his opportunity? Can they boast being coached by a staff led by Jim Harbaugh, who seems to fully utilize versatile talent? Not many do. So Patton is 3 stars out of 5 for your last roster spot. Look away if you are already stacked at receiver and instead need to flood your team with running back lottery picks.
