With the news that Darren McFadden is still on crutches, Michael Bush’s stock has gone through the roof. He has great long term hold potential with McFadden possibly sidelined for several weeks or more.
The rugged Bush has put up good numbers when filling in for McFadden, but lost in the hoopla was the fact Taiwan Jones (not to be mistaken for the country that makes all the world’s coolest s**t) was taking 50% of first team practice reps. The Raiders are an unorthodox team. They are the most willing to incorporate speed in the game as much as possible, witness their starting receivers. They also play fast and loose with the depth chart, again letting raw athleticism drive that. Jones is a legit 4.2, 40 and sports the coolest non-combine drills videos you’ll ever see (see below). Also note that Michael Bush has been a bit flimsy in terms of durability, and you get why we think Jones is a great low risk, high reward roster stash.
Foot issues are tough to come back from, ask Kevin Jones, circa mid 2000s. For those McFadden owners who missed out on Bush or those teams who can spare the roster spot, pick up Taiwan Jones. Where did he come from? You could be asking a friend that in a week or two.
